It was lovely to see this diamond ring back on my bench for a clean and polish as well as matching it to a bespoke shaped wedding band. The ring had worn very well and has clearly been looked after as cleaning and polishing was a quick job!
I originally made the diamond ring quite some time ago from 18ct Fairtrade white gold with an ethically sourced large white diamond. Like so many engagement ring, the diamond sits wider than the band and so required a wedding band specially shaped to fit. Following a consultation with my customers, and a couple of silver mock ups to check the shape and fit, she decided to go ahead with a pointed ‘wishbone’ shaped wedding ring in a slightly smaller gauge of gold so it sits slightly underneath the diamond and is extra comfortable to wear. I confess I would never have thought of that but the final look is brilliant and is another reminder of why I love working directly with people to make something that’s just right for them! (unfortunately I don’t seem to have a decent photo of the rings together which is frustrating!)
The silver mock ring was cast in 18ct recycled white gold, then cleaned up, sanded and polished by hand in my workshop.
To finish the commission I also made a 4mm wide 9ct recycled white gold for him with an extra matt brushed finish –
