Just before Christmas 2024 I was aksed to make a very special gold necklace for a 40th birthday.
The necklace features three gold hoops in the three different colours of 9ct gold - yellow, rose and white.
Each hoop has been delicately hammered to give just a subtle shimmering effect. My client was very keen that the hoops still had a round profile and weren't squashed flat!

So that the pendant would sit flat we decided on a 9ct yellow gold bail for the hoops and the chain to be threaded through. This has a simple round profile and smooth polished finish.
Necklace Chains - What Is The Right Length?
The length of your chain can make a big difference to the look and feel of a pendant. A 16inch/40cm chain sill sit just on your collarbone, an 18inch/45cm will sit just below your collarbone and then longer chains can of course go as long you like.
Most necklaces worn by themselves tend to be 16 or 18 inches, though it's useful to have a range of chains in your stash so you can layer up more than one necklace.
Going forwards all of my necklaces will be made with an adjustable chain so you can wear it at either 16 or 18 inches. That way you can mix it up depending on what you're wearing that day and if you want to layer up multiple necklace.

If you've seen a design and would like it with a chain longer than 18inch, just ask! It's no problem at all.
