I hope you all had a wonderful, restful festive break? I did very little over Christmas and New Year which is exactly what I had hoped for. It took me a few days to properly wind down, but I now feel ready to start the new year refreshed and excited for what a new decade will bring for my business. Are you raring to go, or still slowly building yourself back up? January can be such a tough month!
It was lovely to see this diamond ring back on my bench for a clean and polish as well as matching it to a bespoke shaped wedding band. The ring had worn very well and has clearly been looked after as cleaning and polishing was a quick job!
I originally made the diamond ring quite some time ago from 18ct Fairtrade white gold with an ethically sourced large white diamond. This ring was a recent (ish) commission to resize and update an existing silver and gold ring. The original – which I neglected to take a photo of – was a silver band with a small plain gold section. Simple and elegant. The ring however was now too small and so to resize it, I carefully cut the gold section straight down the middle and added a gold stone setting with a flush set white diamond. This ring was commissioned by a customer looking for some old gold and diamond rings to be remodelled into something she could wear everyday for her 25th wedding anniversary. It was important to Cat to keep the sentimental value of the old rings and so I removed the diamonds and then her gold was refined and formed into new sheet metal for the new ring, with a little extra recycled gold added to make up the weight.
