As a jeweller who tends to work on small, lightweight, minimalist jewellery it was an absolute joy for me to let rip with this mega chunky stack of silver rings!
The centrepiece of the set is a fascinating and beautiful rutilated quartz, cut into a precision sharp hexagon.

The way the crisp pointed edges of the hexagon mimic the needle like inclusions of rutile is just wonderful.
Because the rutile quartz is so large but the rings needed to stack together, I had to get a little creative with the underneath of the stone setting.
My client liked the style of bezel set stones - this is where there is a 'wall' all the way around the stone that is then rubbed over the top edge to hold the stone in place.
However a full bezel setting would mean that the rings couldn't sit flush together. The stone setting would be wider than the ring it sits on.
My solution was to file away the bottom edge of the stone setting which in effect created a kind of deep halo setting. There's often more than one way to do something so it's always fun to explore and have a new trick up my sleeve for future projects!

Paired up with a plain wide band ring, and a D-shape band with a silk texture, its a delightful set to mark a special 21st birthday.
This set was created almost by accident. My client happened to see another rutilated quartz ring that I had in stock which she absolutely loved. We then looked at the different options for how to set the stone, the width and shape of the band, whether to have silver or gold...and the design just grew from there.
