This set of rings was made to mark the arrival of a new baby boy ♡
Born in August, mum wanted a birthstone ring, which for August is peridot with it's gorgeous bright grass green colour.
The original commission was for two matching peridot rings for mum and grandma. However after we had chatted about the options, we decided that we would create a pair of stacking rings by remodelling a damaged emerald ring at the same time.
By working on these two projects at the same time I could ensure that the rings stacked perfectly when worn together. It also meant that the emeralds were given a new lease of life in their new stone settings.
We explored a few different gemstone shapes and sizes for the peridot, and various layouts for a cluster of emeralds.
In the end we settled on this gorgeous 8x5mm pear cut perdiot which we decided to set at angle to give it a more unique and modern twist.
The peridot ring looks gorgeous worn by itself but also sits beautifully alongside the three emerald ring.
The difference in the colour of the emeralds after setting them in gold is really quite remarkable. They look so much richer and more vibrant in the soft warm tones of 9ct yellow gold. If you follow me on Instagram you'll know that green and gold is my favourite combination!
The emeralds were actually quite damaged around the edges, so by putting them in bezel settings with a 'wall' all the way around the stone, they are kept much safer and the damage is hidden.
I just love the final stack. The meaning behind the peridot rings and the chance to update the emerald ring was an absolute pleasure.
