Choosing the Perfect Gemstone
This pendant was a recent commission featuring a gorgeous oval tourmaline cabochon gemstone.
The combination of green gems with yellow gold is always such a wonderful match, it’s one of my favourites.

I was able to source a number of green cabochons – tourmaline, emerald, amethyst and tsavorite garnet – for my client to choose from. It was not an easy choice as they were all beautiful gemstones!
Details
Once the tourmaline cabochon was selected, Kate asked for a small accent gemstone to go at the top of the pendant. There were lots of options but a lovely bright white diamond was settled on for a classic look.
Kate and I discussed the different design options for the positions of the tourmaline and diamond, along with the style of the bail (the 'loop' that the chain threads through).
I handmade this pendant in 18ct Fairmined yellow gold which has such a luxurious warm colour. Both the tourmaline and diamond are ethically sourced making this a pendant with excellent ethical provenance.
The Finished Piece
The last step was to give this pendant a highly polished finish to complete the elegant, timeless look.
Kate chose a stunning fine gold trace chain and we settled on this tapered bail which beautifully balances out the whole pendant with the precious gems.
I made this pendant with an adjustable length chain which gives the wearer the flexibility to adjust the length of the chain to fit nicely with any outfit.

If you're feeling inspired by any aspect of Kate's pendant I'd love to hear from you!
Perhaps you love the pendant but would prefer a difference colour cabochon? Or you love white gold instead of yellow? Or you love this green tourmaline but would like it on a ring? All possibilities are, well...possible!
